show name

By adamnevins  //  Life  //  1 Comment

i name shows.  it’s what i do.  and it drives my wife crazy.

the thing is, there are some decent tv shows on these days, but they are not crazy memorable.  so i forget the show title.  so i name it.  my method is to draw from the more memorable shows of our past and remember them through their recent reincarnation.

the big bang theory – perfect strangers

how i met your mother – friends

rules of engagement – five’s company

okay, the last one is a bit of a stretch, but it’s the only way i can refer to the show, because i always forget the name…

any ideas for other shows that deserve other names?

bus or bike

By adamnevins  //  Life  //  No Comments

I rode the bus this morning. It is refreshing to be outside walking from stop to stop.

I also enjoy the flexibility of transportation. Will I take the car today? The motorcycle? Bicycle? Bus? What will you take?

The $50 iPhone

By adamnevins  //  Technology  //  No Comments

i’ve wanted an iphone since before they came out. i mean, who hasn’t? but $400-500 for a phone? crazy…

so i patiently waited for the right time, the right moment to pull the trigger for the least amount of coin. and it just came. last month, my wife and i switched from sprint to at&t and got free refurbished phones. i got the Sony Ericsson W580i Walkman. it’s a pretty cool phone, but i didn’t use it once. i promptly sold it on eBay for $200, while buying upgrading to a refurbished iPhone from at&t for only $250. total out of pocket: $50. nice…

i admit i feel uncomfortable when i pull out a $400 phone, as i would never pay that much for a phone. i insist on calling it my $50 iPhone…and my good friends are growing weary of the story already…

and can i just say, wow, what a phone…
